Event Details

Join us on the third Tuesday of each month for a lively discussion about this month's title. Copies of the month's title are available at the Ridgefield Community Library for sign-out at the Accounts Desk.

For July we will read a novel: The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen. All are welcome.

The Sympathizer follows a half-French, half-Vietnamese man serving as a spy for the Communist forces in the final days of the Vietnam War. The novel is framed as a confession written by the narrator to a mysterious commandant, by whom he is being held prisoner. Set as the flashback in a coerced confession of a political prisoner, the book tells the story of the South Vietnamese Government in 1975 and subsequent events in American exile in Los Angeles.

We will meet in person in the Community Room. Please sign out a copy of the discussion book at the Accounts Desk before the program.
