What is its role? Why is it important?

Join the League of Women Voters for an educational program on the Clark County Charter that went into effect in 2015 and on the role of the of the soon-to-be elected Charter Review Commission.

Guest speakers will include Lindsey Shafar, Senior Legislative Assistant for the Clark County Council, and Nan Henriksen, former chair of the elected Clark County Board of Freeholders, which drafted the current charter in 2014.

The fifteen (15) Charter Review Commission members will be elected on a nonpartisan basis at the general election of November 3. The charter requires them to “review the charter to determine its adequacy and suitability to the needs of the county and propose necessary and appropriate amendments.”

Learn how the current council/manager form of county government is structured and functions. How does that contrast with the structure of the previous commission form of county government? What questions do you have about the county government structure and the charter review  process?

This program will be recorded for later viewing.

To join this online program, you will need a computer, tablet or phone with a microphone. The link and password to join the event will be emailed to registrants one hour before the program begins. A phone number will be included to allow you to use a phone as speaker and microphone, if needed.
