Ned Hayes is a novelist and journalist who writes literary fiction and historical novels. Acclaimed as one of the top five books that center on the autistic experience, The Eagle Tree is the story of a young autistic boy captivated by the awe-inspiring ecosystem of the Pacific Northwest forest, its individual trees and wildlife.

Ned is a versatile writer, published in many languages, who also writes dark fantasy (SF/F) under the name Nicholas Hallum. (He uses two names so readers will know what to expect.) He was educated at Stanford University and participated in the Rainier Writing Workshop. Ned has served on the boards of the Reading Foundation and Clarion West.
