Stevenson Grange #121’s 2019 “Critical Issues Of Our Times” film series will feature five documentaries. Part of the Grange’s Community Resiliency programs, all the films feature the central theme of community. Each film will be shown on a Saturday, starting at 10:30 am until 12 pm, with group discussions to follow. Participants are invited to bring a brown bag lunch.

The Watershed Guardians of the Fraser River

The  Fraser River is one of the most beautiful rivers of Canada.  But how healthy is it really? This documentary is a journey to meet with the people who are studying and defending the Fraser River and its watershed. With scientists, activists, outdoorsmen, farmers, educators, artists and natives, discover how concerned citizens try to stop its deterioration. The Fraser should be a easier remediation, but as many in the documentary point out, the struggle is against industrial interests and “pro-growth” advocates whose focus on short-term profit blinds them to the larger reality of what they’re doing when they don’t protect our water resources.
