Achieving Right Relationship with the Columbia Gorge will Require Resistance + Resilience
The Columbia Gorge is an unique and special place. People relate to it in their own ways but for those who see themselves as part of it, the Gorge is home. However, whether it is about the forests, the river, or the string of communities that dot and line the landscape, so much of what has shaped and continues to shape life in the Gorge is actually out of the hands of those who call it home.
Come learn how to navigate the disconnect between what you feel and perhaps believe and what is reality around the state and future of the Columbia Gorge:
-Intertwining of law and culture
-Function of decision making that disallows local self-determination
-Impacts of industry, social instability, and climate chaos
-Calling for truth, reckoning, and right relationship
-Exploring community engagement in the name of resistance and resilience
Presenter: Kai Huschke is the Executive Director of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF). CELDF has been on the forefront of the nexus between law and culture for nearly 30 years with its extensive community level work across the United States as well as in other countries. Kai has been community organizing, educating on movement building, lecturing, and publishing for 15 years now on systems transformation.
