Program Description
Event Details
The puzzle swap will begin with Tim Klein, a puzzle montage artist from Vancouver, Washington, who will talk about his adventures with the obscure art of puzzle montage. After his presentation, there will be a puzzle swap.
Do you have finished jigsaw puzzles that are ready for a new home? Looking to find your next favorite puzzle? Bring your gently-used puzzles (no missing pieces) to the library. Take home a new-to-you puzzle challenge.
This event will be open-house style where you can drop off or pick up puzzles any time from 1–3 pm. Any puzzles remaining will be donated to the Friends of Three Creeks Community Library.
Tim Klein is one of only two artists ever to extensively pursue the art of jigsaw puzzle montage, a specialized form of collage. Taking advantage of the fact that many different mass-produced jigsaw puzzles are manufactured with the same cut pattern, he combines the interchangeable pieces of two or more puzzles, resulting in a surreal mixture of their original pictures. His artwork has appeared in publications worldwide, including two academic textbooks. He scours the thrift stores and garage sales of Vancouver, Washington to find old puzzles to use as his art materials. See his work at www.puzzlemontage.com.
