Program Description

Event Details

Even War Has Rules is a dynamic discussion of International Humanitarian Law (also know as the Laws of War) and how it governs armed conflict around the world. It will address the origins and sources of this law and the fundamental rules that apply to armed conflicts as enshrined in treaties like the Geneva Conventions.

Program participants will gain a basic understanding of the laws governing armed conflict and the role of the Red Cross in upholding and implementing those rules. Participants will also come away from the lecture and discussion with the knowledge to evaluate how these laws apply to current day events.
