Program Description

Event Details

Join Cassy Reck and other members of the Cowlitz tribe for a presentation about Canoe Culture and today's Cowlitz people.

The modern-day Canoe Journey, which happens annually in the summer, honors traditional practices in which indigenous people traveled the Columbia River and byways with tribal canoes to come together and share music, food and art. This time was also used to dig out new canoes and carve paddles. Canoe Culture is a way to connect and strengthen indigenous culture.
