Event Details
Researching Black American ancestry is in many respects like researching any other family history, but the unique aspects of the Black American experience affect that research. Topics include methods, record types (particularly related to slavery), history, DNA, and genealogy sites.
Janice M. Sellers has been researching her own family history for almost 50 years. She is also a professional genealogist specializing in Black, Jewish, dual citizenship, and newspaper research. She serves on the boards of two genealogical societies and speaks on genealogy at local to international events. Find out more about Janice on her website at ancestraldiscoveries.com.
This is a hybrid program with the option of attending online or in-person in the Skamania Room at Vancouver Community Library.
