Program Description

Event Details

This presentation integrates non-violent communication, compassionate communication, and other crisis intervention strategies in communication. We will discuss some physical components of non-verbal communication as well as ways to express ourselves in a way that helps to get what we need, communicate our needs to others, and defuse avoidable situations.

People will be asked to communicate with others in groups and diads to practice these skills. If you're uncomfortable working with strangers, please bring someone you are comfortable speaking with. There may be some light movement, though nothing excessive or physically demanding. Feel free to bring notebooks and writing utensils.

Joshua is a licensed mental health therapist in Oregon and Washington. He has attended several seminars on crisis interventions, as well as trained providers and clients about these skills. He is also a 6th-degree black belt in Taekwon-do.
