Program Description

Event Details

Experience a vibrant celebration of Hawaiian culture through songs, language, and hula in this interactive program perfect for participants of all ages. Be a part of a musical journey as we learn basic hula steps, discover the rhythmic beauty of the Hawaiian language, and experience the joy of storytelling through dance.

Get ready for fun as we dance together, learn a hula, and try out authentic hula implements. Hula isn't just a dance – it's a way of telling stories through graceful movements and hand gestures - developed by the Polynesians who settled in the Hawaiian islands. For all ages. https://hulaaloha.org/

Lisa Fujii Chang has over three decades of experience, beginning with her formal hula training in 1987 with Hula Halau ‘O Pi’ilani in Santa Clara, California under the instruction of Kumu Hula Linda Pi’ilani Dank, Auntie Linda. The highlight of Lisa’s dance career was taking first place in the Hula Kahiko and Hula ‘Auana Group Division at the Ia ‘Oe E Ka La Hula Competition in 1989. LIsa applied her 30 plus years of study and instruction to create a school of Hula, where everyone is family.
