Event Details
Join us for a friendly, informal discussion of books on the first Tuesday evening of every month.
This month we are discussing Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson.
Bryan Stevenson, the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama recounts his experiences as a lawyer working to assist those desperately in need, reflecting on his pursuit of the ideal of compassion in American justice.
One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn't commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship--and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.
