Shelby Van Pelt is the debut author of the New York Times Bestselling book Remarkably Bright Creatures. She was featured on Jenna Bush’s Book Club on The Today Show. She got her inspiration for the octopus character Marcellus in a journalist class at Emory University in Atlanta. Shelby was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, near Seattle and currently resides in a suburb of Chicago with her family. She joins us virtually for this conversation about Tova and Marcellus and other aspects of her novel. There will be time for questions and answers.


This is a hybrid program, with the option of meeting online or in-person.
