Program Description

Event Details

Discover new films and discuss them with new friends, all from the comfort of your living room.

Each month, we'll meet virtually to discuss a film that is available to stream on Kanopy, for free with your library card. Sign up, watch the film, and join us for a discussion. If you have never used it before, find out how to get started using Kanopy here.

This month, we'll be discussing the film Wild Strawberries

Traveling to accept an honorary degree, Professor Isak Borg--masterfully played by veteran director Victor Sjostrom--is forced to face his past, come to terms with his faults, and make peace with the inevitability of his approaching death. Through flashbacks and fantasies, dreams and nightmares, WILD STRAWBERRIES dramatizes one man's remarkable voyage of self-discovery. This richly humane masterpiece, full of iconic imagery, is a treasure from the golden age of art-house cinema and one of the films that catapulted Ingmar Bergman to international acclaim. Winner of the 1960 Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film and the Golden Bear at the 1958 Berlin International Film Festival.
