Teen Group: More than a Book

Good company and good conversations! Join us each month for a lively discussion for teens 13-18. We meet on the third Monday of each month. February is an exception due to President's Day. The book itself is optional. We will discuss the book some, but we will also discuss books in general, genres, movies, current events: any topic is fair game. The book is just a jumping off point. We will also have a craft or technology device to explore and play with.

Books will be provided by the La Center Casino Charitable Foundation for the first 10 to sign up. If you would like to read the book, just let a staff member at the library know you would like a copy.

This month, join us for a discussion of Caraval by Stephanie Garber.

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.
